Local plumber Boston

June 23, 2008

Water heater problem need to be fixed now that the Celtics season is over – you have more time to fix those nagging home issues involving a plumber.  To save time and money and find a Boston plumber we recommend a three part strategy.

1. Use a directory like elocalplumbers (http://www.elocalplumbers.com) to find a plumber by zip code or city.  This directory lists everyone in your town as well as 1 exclusive advertiser who owns the display advertising for the zip code and is committed to providing excellent service.

2. Call several vendors and obtain a quote.   Talk to the vendor’s staff and ask questions to see how knowledgeable they are.  Compare notes.

3. Now that you have competition for the job, let the vendors drop price to compete.  Remember that the vendor needs to make some money to do a good job.

Boston Plumber – Toilets

June 11, 2008

Toilets Leaking in Boston.  Time to call the plumber.

If you live in Boston and have ever experienced toilets leaking, then you know it can be more frustrating than the Redsox losing the pennant.Leak Source. One of the most frustrating reasons is that it can be very difficult to determine the source of the leak. You could have condensation problems, a rotting donut, a loose toilet, or a pipe leaking somewhere. If unsure, contact a a professional plumber at elocalplumbers.com and assess the problem and then you will have a better idea about what it is and how much it is going to cost. It might be something simple or it could be something that requires special tools to fix. Your local plumber will have the right equipment to detect the problem and ultimately solve it.

In Boston, Quincy, Braintree, Newton and Framingham, Leaking toilets can cause major damage if left without repairing the problem. As soon as you see water on the floor or a leak, you should have it corrected as soon as possible. If you have an upstairs bathroom and the toilet is leaking, you might see some signs in a lower ceiling. Toilets leaking can become an even bigger problem if not taken care of immediately. If the leak travels down the walls or into the ceiling, you could sustain further damage that will cost you even more to repair.

The homeowner should always be aware that sometimes a leaking toilet is the result of a loose toilet. Now you would think that tightening the toilet back to the floor will work, but in most cases, you are going to need a new donut before proceeding. If you are unfamiliar with this step, you should have a professional plumber do the job. In some cases, while replacing the donut, you might encounter other problems with the flooring around the toilet, which will also require professional help. If the floor is rotted, you might need to replace the flooring around the toilet before you can even replace the donut and the toilet. For more information on Boston Plumber, Boston Plumbing: http://www.elocalplumbers.com/city/Boston_Ma/0

I live in Boston and My Toilet Won’t Flush, What should I do

If your toilet won’t flush, your first instinct is most likely to try to plunge it. This works in most cases, the toilet drains, and everything is fine. However, there are certain cases where the toilet won’t flush and you can’t seem to figure out why. There are a number of different reasons why your toilet won’t flush. Usually, if your toilet won’t flush, it is because it is clogged. This may be in the porthole of the toilet, underneath the toilet in the pipes, or in the septic tank. You may even experience problems if there are calcite deposits on the inside of the porthole. You can use a mirror to look at the porthole. If you see any calcite or sediment buildup, you can try scraping them away with a coat hanger. However, the best way to determine the source of the problem and make certain that you have it repaired correctly is to find a plumber.

The plumber will more than likely need to remove the toilet and check to see if it is clogged. They may need to suction the hole to remove the clog. In addition, you may want to try checking the flush ring to make sure that it isn’t broken. You can try cleaning them out yourself as well.
